Dear Apex Community,
It has been an honor to serve the community as co-founder and president of the Apex Public School Foundation. Alongside a dedicated team of volunteers serving on the APSF Board and committees, it has been incredible to support the students, educators and staff at all WCPSS Apex-area schools. Since our incorporation in 2018, we have funded over $80,000 of teacher initiatives through our Teacher Grant Program and have spotlighted over 300 extraordinary educators through a variety of recognition programs.
After thoughtful discussion, the Board has made the difficult and unanimous decision to close the Apex Public School Foundation.
As a grassroots, volunteer‑driven organization, we have seen firsthand how time‑ and labor‑intensive this meaningful work is. Our board and committee members have given extraordinary effort while balancing their own professional and personal commitments, yet the demands of sustaining the foundation have continued to grow. Even with an expanded volunteer team, we cannot keep pace with the operational needs of the organization, and we are not at a financial point where hiring staff is possible.
The decision to shutter the foundation was not made lightly. I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful to everyone who has contributed to our mission. We will ensure a responsible transition of remaining resources.
We are fortunate to live in a community where schools are supported by strong PTAs and WakeEd Partnership. I encourage APSF supporters and public‑school advocates to continue promoting creativity, innovation, and collaboration in our schools through these organizations.
I am forever grateful to our volunteers, sponsors, partners, and Apex‑area WCPSS school communities. Keep on innovating.
